He roams the moonlit wilderness, his every sense and instinct on high alert. Changeling wolf Connor Macleod and his Pack have never feared anything — until the night human Zoey Tyler barely escapes a rogue werewolf’s vicious attack.

As the full moon approaches, Zoey has no idea of the changes that are coming, and only Connor can show her what she is, and help her master the wildness inside. With her initiation into the Pack just days away and a terrifying predator on the loose, the tentative bonds of trust and tenderness are their only weapons against a force red in tooth, claw . . . and ultimate evil.

Changeling from Kensington – Brava is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Keys to the Kingdom by Senator Bob Graham

FORMER SENATOR JOHN BILLINGTON KNEW WRITING THIS NEW YORK TIMES OP-ED PIECE MIGHT GET HIM KILLED . . .

July 6th
The congressional inquiry into the 9/11 attacks left several secrets unanswered. The top three are Saudi Arabia’s full role in the preparation for and the execution of the plot; the Kingdom’s willingness and capacity to collaborate in future terrorist actions against the United States; and why this and the prior administration conducted a cover-up that thus far has frustrated finding the answers to the first two questions.

Now, there is an even more ominous unknown. Does Saudi Arabia have the bomb? . . . The United States should take prompt action to prevent this potential conflict from becoming a reality.

Shortly after this appears in print, his suspicion comes true: Senator Billington, a co-chair of the 9/11 Congressional Inquiry Commission, is murdered near his Florida home. Sensing the danger he faced before he was murdered, Billington left ex-Special Forces operative Tony Ramos detailed instructions for an investigation into Saudi complicity in the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Now Ramos, in conjunction with Billington’s daughter Laura, must uncover a shocking international conspiracy linking Saudi Arabia — the Kingdom — to Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda, in a race against time that will span Saudi Arabia, India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan.

But will Ramos and his team be able to stop al-Qaeda from unleashing nuclear disaster on American shores and beyond?

Destined to be a titan amongst thrillers, Keys to the Kingdom is infused with inside information and insight into the world of terrorism that only Senator Bob Graham — as former Chairman of the Senate’s Select Committee on Intelligence — can offer.

Keys to the Kingdom from Vanguard Press is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

Lucky O’Toole — head of Customer Relations at premier mega resort the Babylon — thinks it’s just another night in Las Vegas. A tractor-trailer has spilled its load of a million honeybees, blocking not only the Strip but the entrance to her hotel. . .The district attorney for Clark County — apparently the odd man out of a threesome on the twelfth floor — is hiding in the buff in one of the hotel’s laundry rooms. . . And Numbers Neidermeyer — one of Vegas’s less-than-savory oddsmakers — is throwing some major attitude at Las Vegas’s ace private investigator, the beautiful Jeremy Whitlock.

The next day, Lucky discovers Ms. Neidermeyer has been tossed into the shark tank at the Mandalay Bay Resort as a snack for the tiger shark. When the police show up at the Babylon with a hastily prepared search warrant, applied for by the district attorney himself, and Jeremy lands in the hot seat, Lucky realizes her previous night was far from routine.

Amid the chaos of fight weekend, the Babylon’s hiring of an eccentric new French chef, and her madam mother’s scheme to auction off a young woman’s virginity, Lucky is drawn into a deadly game where no one is what they seem, a game that will end only when she discovers who made fish food out of Numbers Neidermeyer.

Lucky O’Toole and fabulous Las Vegas — life doesn’t get any better.

It is the autumn of 1999. A year has passed since Lucy Darby’s unexpected death, leaving her husband David and son Whitley to mend the gaping hole in their lives. David, a trauma-site cleanup technician, spends his nights expunging the violent remains of strangers, helping their families to move on, though he is unable to do the same. Whitley — an 11 year-old social pariah known simply as The Kid — hasn’t spoken since his mother’s death. Instead, he communicates through a growing collection of notebooks, living in a safer world of his own silent imagining.

As the impending arrival of Y2K casts a shadow of uncertainty around them, their own precarious reality begins to implode. Questions pertaining to the events of Lucy’s death begin to haunt David, while The Kid, who still believes his mother is alive, enlists the help of his small group of misfit friends to bring her back. As David continues to lose his grip on reality and The Kid’s sense of urgency grows, they begin to uncover truths that will force them to confront their deepest fears about each other and the wounded family they are trying desperately to save.

When the steadfast Ruby Jane Whittaker drops out of sight, dogged ex-cop Skin Kadash sets out to discover what drove the woman he loves to leave her life behind so suddenly and without explanation.

The discovery of a dead man in Ruby Jane’s apartment and an attack by a mysterious stalker send Skin from Portland to California — and into a charged encounter with her one-time love Peter McKrall.

As questions mount and answers grow increasingly out of reach, Skin and Peter cross the country on a desperate journey deep into Ruby Jane’s haunted past — and toward an explosive confrontation which will decide if any of them has a future.

In celebration of Get Caught Reading Month, FSB Associates is proud to announce the launch of the newly redesigned Get Caught Reading Web site. We have been an active sponsor of the web site since 2004, and decided it was time for a facelift. The new site has updated technology, a more contemporary design, and features the Libraries Matter author videos by such authors as Sebastian Junger, Jessica Harper, Garrison Keillor, and more. We’re happy to volunteer our efforts for the Association of American Publishers to show our commitment to literacy.

Get Caught Reading is a nationwide campaign to remind people of all ages how much fun it is to read. May is Get Caught Reading month, although the campaign is promoted throughout the year. Get Caught Reading is supported by the Association of American Publishers (AAP). Launched in 1999, “Get Caught Reading” is the brainchild of former Congresswoman and AAP CEO Pat Schroeder. She saw the opportunity to spread the word about the joys of reading through an industry-supported literacy campaign.

Because of research indicating that early language experience actually stimulates a child’s brain to grow and that reading to children gives them a huge advantage when they start school, the program hopes to encourage people of all ages to enjoy books and magazines and to share that pleasure with the young children in their lives.

The site has celebrity and members of Congress Get Caught Reading posters, which are available for ordering. You can also find information on literacy, newsletters, and information for booksellers, teachers and librarians.

What young child will you enlighten with the power of reading?

We think about ourselves, our loved ones, and humanity in general. Reexamining life raises questions of happiness, virtue, origin, unity, and good will. All of which are covered in the books found below and addressed to broaden your awareness of life in the world around us.

j

What Will Happen to Me? by Howard Zehr

“Sometimes when I’m alone, I sit there and look up and close my eyes and think, ˜If he were here, what would happen? ˜ I would have had my full life. It’s just half now.” These sobering words from teenager Cassandra are typical of the devastating accounts included in Zehr and Amstutz’s portraits of American children who have at least one incarcerated parent. Zehr’s portraits are compassionate and ennobling and, though often cursory, the text from the children and caregivers is heartbreaking and thought-provoking. What Will Happen To Me? from Good Books is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

A series of intimate conversations with a wise guru is a compelling idea. How many times have each of us wished for answers to life’s deep questions? In Midnights with the Mystic, Cheryl Simone relates her personal experience of learning at the feet of Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev, India’s most sought-after mystic. Midnights with the Mystic from Hampton Roads is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

In 1887, a Russian journalist made an explosive discovery in a remote Himalayan monastery only to be condemned and silenced for the heresy he proposed. His discovery vanished shortly thereafter.

Now, graduate student Grant Matthews journeys to the Himalayas in search of this ancient mystery. But Matthews couldn’t have anticipated the conspiracy of zealots who would go to any lengths to prevent him from bringing this secret public. Soon he is in a race to expose a truth that will change the world’s understanding of religion. A truth that his university colleagues believe is mere myth. A truth that will change his life forever—if he survives. Breath of God from West Hills Press is available on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.

By Ken Ishii

It’s the start of a new month and flipping the calendar comes with some excitement for me. This is when I get to sneak a peek at new books coming around the bend here at FSB. It’s like peeling away the corner of gift wrapping. I’ll be sharing the joy each month with an update of new projects we have in store. Below are just some of the titles we started to work on and they’re shaping up to be great campaigns. I left ZooBorns out of the mix because we dedicated a whole post to it last week, but we’re definitely still ‘oohhs’ and ‘aahhs’ over our baby animal newborns.

Remarkable Creatures by Tracy Chevalier is the author’s latest novel that, like The Lady and the Unicorn and Girl With a Pearl Earring, transports readers back in time and into the role of a passionate tradesperson. I’m especially happy to see Tracy actively supporting her books by communicating with her fans on Twitter. With this combined effort, we may have another bestseller on our hands.
.

Nighttime Novelist by Joseph Bates is not only a motivational book about making the most out of your spare time, it’s also an incredible resource of writing strategies and fundamentals for getting your novel out the door. Despite the name, this book is valuable to screenwriters and playwrights as well with sections to help develop character arcs and three-act structures. Joseph has a well-rounded web presence that includes a website, blog, Twitter profile, and Facebook page.

Black Faces in White Places by Randal Pinkett and Jeffrey Robinson outlines ten strategies for African Americans to achieve success particularly during the current recession. Fans of The Apprentice will remember Pinkett as the first minority winner of the show in season four. We like the ability to pull a ten point list from the book. It makes for effective copy that’s highly portable across various social media platforms. Randal Pinkett is a widely recognized public figure thanks to the help of his website, Twitter profile, and Facebook page.

Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche has returned to FSB with a new book called Rebel Buddha: On the Road to Freedom. The author is often praised for his ability to take the teachings of Buddha and make them accessible to contemporary readers who may not be familiar with Zen spirituality. We’re thrilled that the Buddhist community has a strong online presence and that it’s open to all walks of life. The author’s Twitter profile streams words of wisdom and gains new followers on a daily basis. It makes increasing the book’s popularity that much easier. I have to add that it also helps to have one of the coolest covers I’ve ever seen.

It’s great to see authors using social media more and more these days. Sure it helps in marketing their books, but it also solidifies a relationship with readers that goes beyond the pages. It can help predict a demand for future book releases and gives authors an unprecedented opportunity to share their opinions worldwide. Soon the day will come when you’ll learn about new releases from the authors themselves. Until then, I’ll be inviting you to check out some fresh and interesting reads here and on FSB Media.
